Thumbdrive FAQ & Troubleshooting

1.What is a ThumbDrive?
Ans: ThumbDrive is a mobile storage device with a self-contained USB interface.
Light weight and compact, ThumbDrive is ideal for mobile users. Despite its
miniature size and light weight, once ThumbDrive is plugged into a USB port
of a PC, it would act like any other mass storage device. With its solid state
construction, Thumbdrive is able to withstand vibration. In addition, it can also
operate under extremes of humidity, magnetic fields and extreme temperatures.

2. Which O.S. can the ThumbDrive operate on?
Ans: At the moment, ThumbDrive can operate in Windows 98 and Windows 98
SE (second edition). However, when new drivers are released for other OS, it
should be made available on our website http://www.thumbdrive.com.

3. What happen if I want to read my ThumbDrive on another PC and the driver
     is not with me?

Ans:The driver can be downloaded from the website http://www.thumbdrive.com.

4. Can virus infiltrate the ThumbDrive?
Ans: Yes, ThumbDrive has been designed to become a mass storage device. Therefore,
it will behave like one. However, you may use most of the anti-virus software
available to scan/protect or remove any virus from the device.

5. I have experienced difficulties using some USB peripherals on my PC system,
would I find similar problem with the ThumbDrive?

Ans: Although we have done intensive testing on the ThumbDrive on many PC platforms
and software settings, we cannot be sure that it works on every PC out in the
market.Users have to check with the system manufacturer or distributor on how
stable their USB host is and their compatibility.

6. If I have more than one ThumbDrive, do I need to repeat the setup of
     the devices?

Ans: No, one time setup is sufficient.

7. What are the applications for the ThumbDrive
Ans: There are countless applications for the ThumbDrive.
       Some ways include:

8. Can I protect my files from accidental deletion?
Ans: Yes, ThumbDrive has a write protection switch at one end. When switch is in
the "open" position, data can be read and written to the ThumbDrive. When
switch is "closed", data can be read from the ThumbDrive, but not written into it.

9. How long can the data be stored on a ThumbDrive?
Ans: Data can be stored in the ThumbDrive for approximately ten years.

10. Can the ThumbDrive be used as a bootdisk?
Ans: No, currently theThumbDrive can not be used as a boot disk on a PC because it
requires a PC motherboard with a BIOS ROM that supports USB.

11. What is the function of the LED?
Ans: When the ThumbDrive is inserted into the USB port and the LED lights up, this means
that the computer has detected the ThumbDrive device. The LED would flicker thus
indicating file transfer. DO NOT REMOVE THE ThumbDrive at such a time as this may
cause loss of data or damage TO THE FAT table. However if the unit is not functional,
the user can reformat the ThumbDrive without causing any damage to the hardware.

12. Can a ThumbDrive be shared over a LAN?
Ans: Yes, the ThumbDrive can be shared over a LAN.

13. What should I do if I do not see the removable disk in Windows Explorer after
       I have inserted the ThumbDrive?

Ans: Refresh the screen by right clicking on the "My Computer" icon and selecting the
"Refresh" menu item (or by pressing the F5 key).

14. What should I do if the ThumbDrive comes in contact with water?
Ans: The ThumbDrive should be thoroughly dried before attempting to use it. Water may
otherwise cause a short circuit when inserted into the USB port thus causing damage
to the internal circuitry of the Thumbdrive.

15. What is included in the ThumbDrive package?
Ans: The package includes a ThumbDrive, a protective cap for its USB connector, a user
manual, an installation floppy disk, label, and a warranty card.

16. What is the difference between the ThumbDrive and a USB hard drive?
Ans: A USB hard disk is much heavier and more bulky. Furthermore, it is more delicate due
to its internal mechanical and electronic devices. On the other hand, the small,
light-weight, and rugged nature of the ThumbDrive makes it simply ideal for
       mobile use.

17. What is the ThumbDrive warranty period?
